Our rage is sacred.

Our anger gives us precious information in terms of defining who we are, what we stand for, and what we don’t. We live in an incredibly emotionally-repressed society that does not offer us spaces to process the depths of our rage, grief, and despair in community. Often, when we try to create these spaces for ourselves, it results in loved ones trying to “fix”, tone down, or shy away from our discomfort, which then perpetuates shame and stuckness around the emotion. However, when we approach our rage intentionally, through the body, we can start to taste the medicine it truly offers us. This workshop is designed to help you access your rage within a contained environment, to move emotional energy through the body, and feel the power in claiming our fury together.

There are so few spaces in our society to truly bring our emotional vulnerability forward and be witnessed in the stickiest and ickiest of feels. We are not taught how to regulate or release our emotions, let alone spend time getting to know them. It is critical for us to spend time in emotional intimacy with ourselves - when we ignore this part of our being, we may become fragmented, volatile, depressed, or misaligned with our true purpose.

Most queer people have internalized the (false) belief that our bodies are “wrong” for one reason or another. We must practice reclaiming our bodies as our own, casting off projections of the heteronormative world around us, and facing the wounds they’ve caused. We need each other in this process of personal and collective healing. We need truth, wisdom, empathy, creativity, community, and play to guide our way.

Our sexual life force energy offers us an inner compass along this journey. What is your body lit up and turned on by? What causes it to shrivel and shut down? What does it say “yes”, “no”, or “maybe” in response to? Dropping into attunement with our bodies, our pleasure, our discomfort, and other sensations can be a form of both meditation and revolution in these trying times.

This workshop will include movement, breathwork, sounding practices, emotional release techniques, self touch meditation, and other experiential tools you will be able to use as mental health resources in your daily life. Workshop will be held at 2424 Drayton Street inside the Trans Museum in Savannah, Ga.

Ecstatic Dance is a freeform movement journey, intended to be held in a safe and sacred container, & facilitated by a professional DJ set. It’s a place where we can be our unique selves, and also connected to a common source. Ecstatic Dance combines the Freedom of a DJ'd Festival Experience with the Awareness of a Conscious Dance Practice.
Most sets will include a variety of musical genres, sonic wave of all tempos, and a full spectrum of emotions. At some dances you will find the vibe to be more organic and tribal, and at others more electronic, futuristic, or urban. No set is ever the same!

In dedication to creating a safe container for your experience we invite you to follow three main guidelines: no shoes (orthopedic shoes or walking aids are ok (and wear comfy clothes!), no booze (or any other drugs), no talking (body language only!). All freedom of expression is welcomed, and there is no ‘right and wrong’ here. Trust in the journey and move through everything that arises.

Dance includes:
- A guided warm-up activity
- A 1.5 hour Ecstatic Dance
- A wind-down period (such as Sound Healing or Meditation)
- A Closing Circle

We encourage you to be there on time for warm up circle especially if you have not been to ecstatic dance before. You are welcome to participate and dance and you are also welcome to take time to rest when you need to.

The Ecstatic Dance community welcomes people of all ages/genders/religions/ethnicities. This is a cross-generational community. We are a non-denominational community, where we come together for the joy of moving and dancing together. Whatever your reason for wanting to move, you are welcome at Ecstatic Dance.

We live in a culture that is rampant with superficial connection, technology, business, hookup dating apps, and small talk. These things often distract us from the sacredness of life itself; of surrendering to the beauty and perfection of each moment and what it has to offer us, internally and externally. From the time we are born into this culture, the cultural values begin to seep into our very being. Tantra is the process of recognizing the conditioning we have undergone, and restoring our nature to its natural, connected state.

You are invited to come explore the pathway to a deeper connection with yourself and everything around you. In "Sensual Embodiment: An Intro to Tantra", lead by Christi Hester and Pranay Ranjan, you will be guided into a world of expanded experiencing. You will be encouraged and supported on a magical journey, uniquely your own, throughout the evening.

Included in this event will be: embodiment practices, guided meditation, and communication exercises. A group experience has the potential to be very profound in the healing and growth it can create. Our hope is that you will leave revitalized and enriched, and will carry with you a deep sense of connectedness with yourself and others. Whether you are brand new to Tantra or have been practicing for years, this workshop will have something for everyone.
